Under this motto, children in grades 1, 3, and 4 at the all-day open school program of GSV Lennetal in Rönkhausen and Bamenohl are learning how to play various ball sports.
Project leader Mariola Joschko combines elements of the Heidelberg Ball School, a scientific concept designed to improve children’s general motor skills, with different ball sports to teach a wide range of coordination skills. The joy of movement, persistent practice, and the mindful, intentional teamwork approach are just a few of the teaching goals of the afternoon classes. Achieving a gold, silver, or bronze medal serves as extra motivation for the children and is also used to assess their performance levels.
The Ball School project was made possible through the support of the Eibach Foundation and was implemented in both schools. To mark the end of the school year, a Ball School Olympics event was held on Saturday, June 18, 2022, followed by an awards ceremony in the Players Lounge in Finnentrop. Here, all the children received their medals and certificates.
